Healthcare Update and Thai Pride Crackdown

*Tune into Out-FM on Monday March 30th at 11am as Out-FM associate producer Naomi Brussel brings us an update about the latest with the movement to abolish the private health insurance system and replace it with a single-payer health insurance system like that proposed by Representative John Conyers with his HR 676 bill. Activists are planning a demonstration on Monday April 6th at 11:30 AM outside of the offices of Representative Charles Rangel because he has been dragging his feet with regard to signing on to HR 676 and has not pushed for congressional hearings on the bill. Guests include Katie Robbins from Healthcare NOW! and Ajamu Sankofa from the Private Health Insurance Must Go Coalition!


*Brad Taylor brings us a report about repression of the LGBT Pride March in Thailand in February by forces aligned with the now-discredited former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

Maureen Seaton, Juggling Gender, Susie Day

*Susie Day reads her latest piece "Holiday party: No Justice No Coat". Day is a humor columnist in Gay City News.

*Tami Gold & Jennifer Miller talk about Gold's updated documentary called "Juggling Gender" about Jennifer Miller with Out-FM associate producer Naomi Brussel. Miller is a bearded woman who performs in Circus Amok. In the documentary she discusses how people treat her, including interference she sometimes gets when she wants to use public toilets. There will be a free give-away during the show. Tune in at 11am for details about the DVD give-away.

*Poet Maureen Seaton talks about her memoir with Out-FM Associate Producer Tricia Spoto.Maureen Seaton is the author of Sex Talks to Girls: A Memoir (University of Wisconsin Press, 2008) and six poetry collections, including Venus Examines Her Breast, winner of the Audre Lorde Award for lesbian poetry; and Furious Cooking, winner of the Iowa Poetry Prize and the Lambda Literary Award, also for lesbian poetry. She is the co-editor, with Denise Duhamel and David Trinidad, of Saints of Hysteria: A Half-Century of Collaborative American Poetry. Her work has appeared in The Atlantic Monthly, Paris Review, New Republic, Bloom, and many other journals both on and off line. She is the recipient of an NEA fellowship and the Pushcart Prize.

Christine Jorgensen Reveals

Marle Becker Interviews Bradford Louryk about his performance of the famous transexual in "Christine Jorgensen Reveals". The remarkable play features Louryk live on stage lipsyncing the 1958 audio interview of Jorgenson by African American performer Nipsey Russell (played by Rob Grace) The award winning production is playing at the Lion Theater thru Sunday March 15, 2009.
